What is on the page

Two columns, four rows, eight cards per sheet. Each card shows an addition problem in a large bold face, with a blank answer line below. The dashed cut lines sit slightly inside each card so a normal scissors cut lands cleanly. Problems on the sheet are drawn from a mix of one-digit and two-digit facts, shuffled so a student cannot memorise the order.

How to use addition flash cards

Work through a deck at a comfortable pace, front side only, and reset any card the student misses. Cards known quickly go to the back of the deck. Cards missed go back to the front until they are secure. Ten minutes a day beats an hour on Sunday. Once a child moves from counting-on to instant recall, addition speed usually transfers to subtraction and later to mental arithmetic.
